Maurice King Burns (1895-1934)
He was the son
of a prominent New York City real estate contractor. and died in 1934,
at the age of 39, in a fire in his New York City apartment. His medium
was oil paint and, having stored many of his painting supplies in the
apartment, the materials likely contributed to the tragic event. Some of
his paintings were submitted to juried shows at the Guggenheim Museum
and the Salmagundi Club. Most of his paintings were completed while
traveling to New Hampshire and Massachusetts towns, harbors and
coastlines such as Gloucester, Rockport and Provincetown.
