Auctioneer's Note:
This is one of the most "sweetest" paintings I have seen to date, by an illustrator/artist.  When first viewing this in person, it immediately made me think of Norman Rockwell, the life like quality, fairy tale expressions and real life memories.  On asking if her work was ever utilized in any publication (this would have easily been the cover art) and the family member said, "no".  I have also been informed that there was a very distinguished "Clapp" family involved in a MET Museum in New England.  If there is a co-relationship between the Gladdius (sp.?) Clapp and this family, please let me know.  Thanks, Terry

Lot   2 - Norwood, Morgan
Biography:
Represented by Impulse Gallery (assemblages) and the Schoolhouse Gallery (laminated photos embedded into sandstone of her favorite gym bunnies - male/female) Her unique and extremely collectible works have been found in many prestigious collections and gardens. The most highly public piece being the chair at Clem and Ursie's on Shank painter Road. She also acclaimed fame in the press after constructing a permanent installation in the Seth Nickerson House (oldest house in Provincetown) utilizing artifacts found within the house's walls as the current owner renovated the property. It includes a small white door of illegal wood (Property of the King of England) from a clipper ship, and when opened, reveals a map of the cosmos and turns on a recording of a Provincetown trolley guide. The recorded voice tells of the previous artist/tenant, John W. Gregory when he operated his house as an informal museum.

*Auctioneer's Note:  This has been authenticated by the late artist's husband and additionally, a consignment recently received for a future auction is also one of these painted wood houses and inscribed to the seller (estate) by Carol.  Upon learning of this, I would think that the estimation on this lot is extremely low.

Lot   1 - Whorf, Nancy
Biography:
(born 1930) Represented by the Berta Walker Gallery, daughter of John Whorf. At the age of 14, Nancy Whorf began her formal art study as a folk artist decorating furniture for Peter Hunt and for twenty years owned a shop in Wellfleet that sold her painted furniture. Yet, early on she wanted to explore her own painting more deeply and spent a year at the Boston Museum School of the Museum of Fine Arts, where she studied with Karl Zerbe. The influence of Charles Hawthorne can be felt from her studies with Vollian Ran and her father John Whorf, both former Hawthorne students. Since the late 80's, Whorf has focused exclusively on her painting. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout the country and she has received numerous commissions from public and private organizations such as Lincoln Park Zoological Society, Tiffany's in Chicago, Abby Rockefeller. Works also at PAAM and the Town of Provincetown.  Recent publication by Julia Kelly (Whorf), Nancy's daughter, of the three generations of the Whorf (John Whorf, Nancy Whorf, Julia Kelly) along with other family members.
