*The consignor of this painting is a well known art collector in Truro, Massachusetts who wished to remain anonymous.  His history on Cape Cod and his impressive art collection are both impressive.  There are approximately  50+ works in this auction from the collection.   With respect to this very dear friend, I find that I have to in some way, mention the fact that current health issues has hindered his capacity to write and/or converse for any length of time.  That said, I have no doubt this painting was in fact, done by the late President, but it is presently impossible for me to elaborate on how he came about this painting and/or any details exacting the late President to the work.

Biography:  (1900- 1990)  Studied: Herron AI 1918-22, with Charles Hawthorne, 1928-33.  Member of PAAM, Beachcombers.  Exhibited at: NA, 1938, PAAM, 1934,36,39, WFNY, 1939.  Lived in Provincetown from 1928 on except for stint in Stonington, CT for war work (1943) and in Sarasota, FL (1955-56) for work on Ringling Bros. Circus where he painted sets.  He has been compared to Aldro T. Hibbard.  Very well collected and sought out artist.
