- 1959) Studied with his father, Harry C. Whorf, and at Botolphe

in Provincetown with Charles Hawthorne, Max Bohm, Richard Miller and
George Elmer Browne, Gerrit Beneker and E. Webster, plus others here and in

Bernard Toale Gallery. Guggenheim fellowship winner, also had exhibition,

Well known local artist who also is graphic artist at Shankpainter
Printers. She is also the main force behind the current show at the

of local "celebrities" and what has happened in their artistic
endeavors since being here. 10 Peggy (Margaret Frances) Bacon:
(1895-1987) Studied at: NY School of Applied Design for
Women, Jonas Lie's Summer Landscape Sch., with Howard Giles (1914-15), and in
Provincetown with Andrew Dasburg and BJO Nordfeldt (1915-17). Also at ASL
with John Sloan, George Bellows and KH Miller. Member of: Whitney Studio

Most likely a Cape Cod artist but through my diligent
research, I could not find anything on the artist. 14 Leonard Mersky:
(b.1917) in Boston. Studied at: Mass. College, and
privately under William H. Bicknell. He created original copper plates
for: Colonial Williamsburg, Mystic Sea Port, Ct., Sturbridge and Plantation, in
Mass. His works can be found at Georgetown Univ., plus countless private
and corporate collections. 15 Karl Knaths, NA: (1891
- 1971) Known as one of the Big Ten artists, early abstract, many museums
and collections, awards, shows, listed in Who's Who, Davenport's, etc:

Christmas 1933. 17 Albert Edel:

- 1961) Strong affiliation with Provincetown and Massachusetts.
Often known for his marine renderings. As time has passed with each
auction, I have been able to gather more information about him. He
had a shop in Provincetown in the 1960's. Was a predominant etcher.
Each auction, the prices are going up. 18 Sally Brophy: (b.1960)
Represented by the Lyman-Eyer Gallery, (new location is 349 Commercial Street)
Provincetown and also Now Voyager Bookstore Gallery.
Recent show at Printmaker's Show at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham

Former owner of The Elephant Walk Inn and well known portrait

furniture painter. Very few of his items come to market. He had some
very well known students painting for him in the 60's Nancy Whorf, Carol Whorf
Westcott and Francis Shea are among his many students and painters of the
furniture and collectible items. Recent auction prices are seeing his
works and works of his "school" skyrocketing. 26 George Lee Crosby:

Well known artist of east coast. Many works at Truro Art Gallery.
Also at Sarah Jessica Fine Art Gallery, Provincetown. Originally
showed in 1970 at Trica Karlis Gallery in Provincetown. Studied at
University of Michigan, Cooper Union and San Carlos Academy in Mexico
City. Has been represented by galleries as far away as Japan,
Mexico, Key West, Bar Harbor, Maine, New York and others. Very
collectible. 27 Gabriel: Well
known and collected Upper Cape artist. Current show at Wellfleet
Bank. Extremely popular in these auctions. Has several shows
running in various Cape Cod establishments. 28 Peter Busa: (1914-1983)
Studied at: Carnegie Inst. with Simboli,, Rosenberg, Kostellow and Benton.
At ASL, Hofmann School of Fine Art, Yaddo Fellowship. Member of: College
