*     On receiving Lot 50 (and 51), I took it upon myself to do some extensive research on Edward Hopper and in particular, the year 1908.  Several books detailed extensive activity for the artist up to 1907 and then again in 1910, basically stating that those 3 years he was not represented and was what one would call, a 'free spirit'.
I then decided to study all his drawings and sketches to see if this particular girl ever appeared in any paintings.  I could not find this exact girl in any of them.  The consignor of this  lot included an appraisal report listing the pencil drawing as Edward Hopper and valuing each at $5,000.00.  I cannot verify if the Appraiser is an expert on Edward Hopper and hence, attributing them to him.
Since I found no evidence to link this drawing to Edward Hopper, all I can do is place the evidence before you and let you be the judge.  I will say that in all my years of viewing and appraising artwork, I have yet to come across such a stellar drawing.  It is definitely the work of an extremely gifted artist.
It is important for all potential bidders to view and study this work before bidding.  If you wish additional images, feel free to contact me and I will gladly do so.  As in all auctions, BUYER BEWARE, AS IS-WHERE IS, meaning it is up to you to determine the who, what and where's before bidding on any item.

*    On receiving Lot 51, I took it upon myself to do some extensive research on Edward Hopper and in particular, locations he visited and worked.  Several books detailed extensive activity for the artist up to 1907 and then again in 1910, stating that those 3 years he was not represented and was what one would call, a 'free spirit'.  I could not find anything listing him at this location.
The Scarboro bridge and pond is located at the Franklin Park Golf Course in Dorchester MA.   There is an image of the bridge on their website.  Since this drawing is not dated (1908), I cannot determine if and when it was done.  Edward Hopper was in Massachusetts in 1908 though.
