dealer. Fox Movietone made a short movie of Diehl painting and talking

Artists. Exhibits include: PAFA (1929-30, 1932), NAD (1930-Hallgarten
prize), Corcoran Gallery biennials 1928-37 (5 exhibits), AIC, PAAM,
Mint. Mus. Art, Jordan Marsh, Boston, Evanston AA, Oklahoma AA. Works at
Chrysler Collection, Harvard Club, NY, Oklahoma Museum, Mint. Mus. Art,
and others. Also painted numerous landscapes, still-lifes and portraits
in Louisiana. Extremely well listed artist. His birth date, although
proof showing he was born in 1899, he wished it known that he was born
in 1901 and that is what is on his grave stone in Truro.

Pennington, Oswald Franklyn
Biography:
(1885-1953) He was a
youth apprentice on the Carradale (master’s certificate, 1913). Was a
illustrator and general artist for the Liverpool Journal of Commerce
from 1913-1914. During WWI he commanded the HMS Rugby. He served aboard
the Empress of France, the Empress of Australia, the Duchess of York,
the Duchess of Bedford, Montcalm, and the Empire Magpie as well as the
Winnipeg II. He lived in Montreal until l952 when he returned to
England. He made many sketches and drawings of sailing ships as well as
the Canadian Pacific liners. Many of these were produced as postcards
and given to passengers.

held in Maryland, and has also participated in a two week summer course
for outdoor portrait/figure classes offered at Cape Cod. Memberships

Providence, died in Brewster, he studied at the Chicago Art Institute,
along with private instruction. He was a staff artist on the Rocky
Mountain News and Denver Post. He also exhibited with Clearwater Art

in Brewster. A noted illustrator/calendar artist. Listed in Discovering
America’s Calendar Artists, 1900-1960. A dressing screen in collection
of PAAM. A painting titled "Jes’ Fishin" was reproduced by the
Gerlach-Barkow Company.
