Auctioneer's Note: Thank you for a great auction.
There were over 140 of the 197 lots represented by phone and absentee bidders.
Many of the lots had multiple bids placed on them before the auction even
started. The live turn out was also exceptional with standing room only.
The biggest star of the day turned out to be Lot 88A, the small Moffett painting
of the Provincetown Wood Gathers. 2 phone lines, 2 absentee bidders and
multiple floor bidders drove the price to a whopping 9,400.00 (hammer price) and
with the 15% buyer premium included, made the price realized a strong 10,810.00.
I thank all that participated in this last auction and also I want to remind you
that the next auction is October 8, 2006. That is the Sunday of Columbus
Day Weekend. The auction will be held at the Provincetown Town Hall, 260
Commercial Street in Provincetown. Preview begins at 2:00 pm and the live
auction at 4:00 pm. The lot list will be online by September 20th.
The deadline for consignors is September 10th or when full, which ever is
sooner. Interested in being a consignor?

Thanks, Terry Catalano, Owner/Auctioneer, Outer Cape Auctions, Massachusetts
License #2539.

Nancy Whorf (Kelly): (born 1930) Represented by
the Berta Walker Gallery, daughter of John Whorf. At the age of 14,
Nancy Whorf began her formal art study as a folk artist decorating
furniture for Peter Hunt and for twenty years owned a shop in Wellfleet
that sold her painted furniture. Yet, early on she wanted to explore her
own painting more deeply and spent a year at the Boston Museum School of
the Museum of Fine Arts, where she studied with Karl Zerbe. The
influence of Charles Hawthorne can be felt from her studies with Vollian
Ran and her father John Whorf, both former Hawthorne students. Since the
late 80's, Whorf has focused exclusively on her painting. Her work has
been exhibited extensively throughout the country and she has received
numerous commissions from public and private organizations such as
Lincoln Park Zoological Society, Tiffany's in Chicago, Abby Rockefeller.
Works also at PAAM and the Town of Provincetown.
"Mother and Daughter", oil on board, 12 x 10, signed on verso,
